To complement the iPhone 13 family, Apple has introduced all-new MagSafe cases in fresh Fall colors. The new versions of the silicone and leather cases predictably have updated camera cutouts as well. This means that there are now separate cases for the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro, rather than a single interchangeable one. New colors for silicone include chalk pink, marigold, pink pomelo, red, abyss blue, blue jay, midnight, and clover....

Right after October’s “Unleashed” special event, Apple released watchOS 8.1 RC for developers and public beta users. The update comes alongside iOS 15.1 RC and macOS Monterey RC, which were also released to beta users today. watchOS 8.1 beta was introduced in September, but the changes were uncertain as Apple never provided any details about what’s new. The update likely fixes system bugs and improves overall security. This is the second update to the Apple Watch operating system since watchOS 8....

In a video interview with the Wall Street Journal, Apple SVP Craig Federighi discusses the reaction to the iCloud Child Safety features announced last week. Federighi admits that the simultaneous announcement of the Messages protections for children and CSAM scanning, two similar features but work in very different ways, has caused customer confusion and Apple could have done a better job at communicating the new initiative. In the discussion with the Journal’s Joanna Stern, Federighi reiterates that the CSAM scanning technology only applies to photos set to be uploaded to iCloud, and is disabled if iCloud Photos is not in use....

One of the first Apple Originals unveiled, SEE, will meet its season finale when the third part of the series launches later in August. Starring Jason Momoa, Apple TV+ just unveiled the first look at the final chapter in a new teaser video. As you may know, SEE is set in a “brutal and primitive future, hundreds of years after humankind has lost the ability to see.” In season three, almost a year has passed since Baba Voss defeated his nemesis brother Edo and bid farewell to his family to live remotely in the forest, but when a Trivantian scientist develops a new and devastating form of sighted weaponry that threatens the future of humanity, Baba returns to Paya in order to protect his tribe once more....

We are officially in July, and Apple has just released a new Apple Watch Series 7 advertisement that promotes the durability of the device. The ad comes amid rumors of a “rugged” version of the Apple Watch expected to be introduced this fall. Named “Hard Knocks,” the advertisement shows just how tough the current generation Apple Watch is. The one-minute video shows multiple people wearing Apple Watch Series 7 as they play extreme sports or simply slip on the ground....

The news surrounding the DC Extended Universe’s first stand alone Batman movie may be hectic recently, with back and forth rumors about Ben Affleck stepping aside as director finally coming to fruition, leading to additional speculation as to his future (or lack thereof) with the movie. Even if everything is going great, as the most recent update suggests (check back in five minutes), it’s hard to deny that efforts to build hype for The Batman movie have been an uphill battle....

The fan anticipation is starting to grow leading into the upcoming March 2016 release of the DC Comics powerhouse cinematic showcase that will be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The buzz has really begun to hit a fever pitch after the recent release of a third and more extended trailer for the film that touts itself as “Son of Krypton vs. Bat of Gotham”. The onslaught of merchandise to tie-in to director Zack Snyder’s film is about to begin....

Ansel Elgort is set to star in the WarnerMedia series Tokyo Vice helmed by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12, The Glass Castle). The series is based on the non-fiction book Tokyo Vice: An American Reporter on the Police Beat in Japan by American journalist Jake Adelstein – the first non-Japanese reporter working for Yomiuri Shinbun, one of Japan’s biggest newspapers. The book is a first-hand account of Adelstein’s interactions with Tokyo’s criminal underworld as a reporter and was first earmarked for adaptation back in 2013 in a feature film intended to star Daniel Radicliffe as Adelstein, though that project fell by the wayside....

Solo character posters for Ant-Man and The Wasp reveal the best look yet at Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. Marvel Studios went small to end Phase 2 and introduced Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang as this universe’s Ant-Man moving forward. He did so with the help of Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), but many viewers were just wondering why she didn’t suit up herself. That is finally happening in the sequel that hits theaters this summer, where Wasp also receives co-billing in the title....

The Apple Car project has gotten renewed interest recently, but it’s being suggested today that an Apple e-bike could be even more interesting. I’ll start by saying I’m not convinced this makes sense as a product category for Apple – but, after trying the most Apple-like of electric bicycles earlier this year, an Apple eBike is still something I’d personally love to see … TNW‘s Napier Lopez makes the case....

There’s another display supplier that wants to compete with Samsung and LG for the production of OLED panels for the iPhone 15 Pro, The Elec reports. According to the story, Chinese display giant BOE, which already supplied 6.06-inch OLED panels for lower-tier iPhones, has set a target to manufacture OLED panels for the 2023 iPhone Pro. Currently, Samsung Display is the only supplier for this year’s iPhone 14 Pro and it splits the production of OLED panels with LG Display for the iPhone 14 Pro Max....

Apple overhauled its security bounty program back in 2019 by making it open to anyone, increasing payouts, and more. However, the program has seen a good amount of criticism from the infosec community. Now another security researcher has shared their experience claiming that Apple didn’t give them credit for one zero-day flaw they reported which was fixed and that there are three more zero-day vulnerabilities in iOS 15. Update 9/27: After sharing his experience publicly, Apple has responded to security researcher illusionofchaos, aka Denis Tokarev....

Apple TV+ officially launched just over two years ago, and while the catalog has grown considerably since then, the platform is still struggling to achieve significant market share. New data from JustWatch reveals that Apple TV+ registered small growth in the last quarter, while its competitor Disney+ has been getting stronger worldwide. Of course, Apple has been trying hard to make its streaming platform more appealing to users. Shows like Ted Lasso have received multiple awards this year, while the company continues to make deals to bring more people and exclusive content to Apple TV+....

“I never would have thought I’d be using an Apple Watch to make a lifesaving phone call,” says Ryan McConnaughey. That’s what the 23-year-old Californian told KGTV after a mountain bike crash caused him to be paralyzed. McConnaughey was mountain biking in Spring Valley, California, earlier this year when an accident caused him to fly over his handlebars and crash headfirst into the ground. The mountain biking accident paralyzed McConnaughey, who says he didn’t feel much pain but couldn’t move from the neck down....

New releases Aquaman, Bumblebee, and Mary Poppins Returns receive impressively high A- Cinemascores. 2018’s movie lineup is almost completely released, but Hollywood is positioned to close out the year on a high note with several high profile films hitting theaters over the holiday season. With no new Star Wars movie coming out in December, every studio wants to try and get in on the potentially lucrative window. Sony got things started last week with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which had an impressive opening and appears primed to have strong legs after earning an A+ Cinemascore....

DC Extended Universe’s upcoming film project Aquaman has recently found its young Arthur Curry. The character will be mainly played by Game of Thrones alum Jason Momoa as we venture into his world in his first standalone film scheduled to hit theaters December of next year. There is still a scarcity of information regarding the aforementioned project as DC and Warner Bros. have yet to release an official synopsis to the film....

UPDATE: Read everything revealed by the Aquaman set visit reports. The promotional tagline “Unite the Seven” actually refers to Aquaman and the seven underwater kingdoms, and not the number of members of the Justice League. Although the statement originally appeared to promote Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice it seems that “Unite the Seven” was teasing a plot point from the solo Aquaman film. The tagline first appeared during the production of Batman V Superman as a way to promote Aquaman’s presence in the Justice League movie....

Arrow season 4 is coming to a close, and like any DC Comics series on The CW, the finale promises to be packed with action, and to feature at least one monumental showdown between the good and the bad guys. This season has seen Oliver Queen try to take the fight against evil into the light, to do battle with his season-long nemesis of Damien Darhk using skills he’s not normally associated with – in either one of his identities....

Of course, things kicked off in May with the no-nonsense, “don’t mess with me” performances of Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol....

Avengers 4 is all but confirmed to be a time travel film. While this means the MCU isn’t resting on its laurels after the spectacular cliffhanger ending of Avengers: Infinity War, there is the lingering sense that whatever method of time travel is used won’t work in Marvel’s already notoriously broken timeline. The MCU has flirted with time travel in the past - most memorably using the Time Stone in the final act of Doctor Strange to trap Dormammu and as a final step in Thanos’ plan to recover the Mind Stone from Vision - but Avengers 4 looks set to blow the TARDIS’ doors off....
