According to our sources, the company has developed iPad Pro prototypes with a larger Apple logo (similar to the one on the new MacBook Pro), but this one is made of glass. As a result, power would be transmitted through the glass logo. The prototype also has stronger magnets to prevent accidents, and it supports charges at faster speeds than MagSafe for iPhone. Other tidbits about the new iPad Pro that we can report include a larger battery (which is great since some users complain that the Magic Keyboard causes excessive battery drain), a camera module similar to the one from iPhone 13, and a brand new chip....

Following a short period of downtime, the Apple Store is back up again and now features an entirely new design. Apple has also restored the old dedicated “store” tab in the navigation bar. The new store webpage looks very similar to the Apple Store app on iPad and iPhone. You can check out the new storefront here. The new design starts with a simple carousel of product categories that you can choose from and offers quick links to shop with a specialist or find an Apple store nearby....

Update: Now available to public beta testers as well. A couple of weeks after releasing the first beta of iOS 15.5, Apple is seeding the second version for developers. Different from other operating systems, watchOS 8.5 doesn’t have any major changes. At least, with iOS 15.4 beta 4, Apple brought a new, non-binary Siri voice for American users, which also reflects on Apple Watch as well....

The British government has backed a call by the country’s security services for client-side scanning for child sexual abuse material – aka Apple’s CSAM approach. Home Secretary Priti Patel has written an op-ed in which she indicates government support for the stance, while also attacking Facebook’s plans to make all Messenger chats end-to-end encrypted by default … Background Apple’s CSAM scanning plans were first announced a year ago. Instead of scanning photos stored on iCloud, which is the approach taken by other companies with cloud storage services, the iPhone maker wanted a more privacy-respecting approach....

Apple constantly highlights that iPhone and iPad devices always receive system updates for a long period of time. While this is true, the company sometimes fails to deliver bug fixes and security improvements as quickly as possible to its users because it needs to update the entire system to fix those things. It’s past time for Apple to offer standalone updates for native iOS apps. Since the very first iPhone, Apple has relied on system updates to fix bugs or add new features to its own apps....

Marvel has released a new sneak peek for Avengers: Infinity War on the Disney Channel. Earlier this month, Apple launched a new campaign starring Harry Styles to promote AirPods and Spatial Audio. The ad, which features the song “Music For a Sushi Restaurant,” shows silhouettes of people dancing just like in classic iPod ads. Now the company has released a new TikTok filter that lets you star in your own AirPods ad with the silhouette effect. Following the release of iOS 14.7 earlier this week and iPadOS 14.7 today, Apple has now published the full details about the security fixes included in the updates. Apple says that iOS 14.7 and iPadOS 14.7 fix an array of security bugs, ranging from WebKit vulnerabilities to Find My vulnerabilities and more.
