Animated comedy series Archer has been renewed for season 11. It was initially an espionage show, featuring its assortment of oddball characters operating a small spy agency in spite of their best efforts to undermine each other, all the while constantly bickering and sniping. As well as the character interaction, a lot of the show’s humor came from a mashup of anachronisms that made dating the setting impossible, and a number of running jokes so regular that at one point there was even a running joke about a running joke....

A new report suggests that the planned DCEU Batgirl movie is no longer being fast-tracked into production by Warner Bros. The scoop comes in the wake of director Joss Whedon’s sudden departure from the project last week, which left the fate of Barbara Gordon’s solo movie up in the air. Upon stepping down, the filmmaker explained that after months of work, he simply “didn’t have a story.” Whedon’s decision came just two days after rumors surfaced that Batgirl and Flashpoint were on pace to be the next DCEU movies to hit theaters following the November 2019 release of Wonder Woman 2....

Based on the Walt Disney Pictures animated musical classic from 1991, the forthcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast is chugging along quite nicely as it makes its way towards theatrical release early next year. Starring Emma Watson (Harry Potter) as the plucky heroine Belle and Dan Stevens (The Guest) as her unlikely romantic suitor the Beast, the new movie directed by Bill Condon (Mr. Holmes) should manage to provide fans of the original feature film a new version of the classic tale of romantic fantasy....

Ben Affleck opens up about his decision to exit The Batman standalone film. Debuting in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as the DCEU’s version of the Caped Crusader, the actor reprised the character in Justice League. From there, he was lined up to direct, write and star in his own solo movie, but between the lack of updates and persistent rumors that he wanted to exit the comic book movie franchise, fans grew skeptical of the project....

An Apple Caltech patent infringement case is returning to court some two years after the iPhone maker was ordered to pay $838M in damages. The new trial will only consider the sum awarded, and will not revisit the question of infringement. Broadcom, one of Apple’s chip suppliers, was ordered to pay an additional $270M, making the total sum awarded a fraction over $1.1B … Background The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) sued Apple back in 2016, claiming that Broadcom chips used in iPhones and other Apple products infringed on the college’s Wi-Fi patents....

Apple’s mixed reality headset is set to feature iris scanning biometrics features, enabling capabilities similar to the Face ID biometrics system found in modern iPhones and iPads. According to a report from The Information, ‘Iris ID’ would allow the user to authenticate payments without entering a password, and would enable seamless user switching. Apple’s augmented reality and virtual reality capable device has been in the works inside the company for many years, and is finally expected to be unveiled to the public sometime in 2023....

MIDiA Research on Wednesday published a new report with global figures for the music streaming services market based on the second quarter of 2021. While Apple Music is the second most used music platform, it is still far behind Spotify. According to the research, the number of people who subscribe to music streaming services continues to grow quickly.
