Ant-Man & The Wasp villain Ghost is intentionally very different from previous MCU villains like Black Panther’s Killmonger and Avengers: Infinity War’s Thanos, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says. After his involvement in Captain America: Civil War, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang is back in his own standalone adventure, but this time, he gets a brand new partner in Hope van Dyne’s new incarnation of the Wasp played by Evangeline Lily. The duo’s first order of business is to save Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp and Pym matriarch, from the Quantum Realm, where she’s been trapped for decades....

In August, Apple is holding live presentations to help developers make the most out of their App Store experience. After several complaints from developers, Apple has just made a major announcement in which the company confirms that it will finally let developers redirect users to sign up for services on websites instead of using the App Store’s in-app purchases system. The announcement comes after an investigation by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), which had been looking into Apple’s anti-competitive practices since 2019. The company confirmed to the press on Wednesday that as part of the settlement with the JFTC, developers will be able to tell users that they can sign up and manage service subscriptions through an external website....

Without indulging in any major spoilers, Captain America: Civil War would seem to make re-assembling The Avengers for their next scheduled group-outing in the Avengers: Infinity War films (or whatever they will eventually be called) a fairly difficult prospect. So things are likely to get worse before they get any better, and the various films leading up to the two-part event may wind up detailing how certain aspects of the MCU recover from the fallout of Civil War....

The series had always been adept at delivering offbeat elements that somehow felt congruous with the larger character arcs and themes running throughout the overarching idea of a man in search of an identity, so it was no surprise, then, that the show might try its hand at throwing the audience a curveball in its last go-round, one that would not only attempt to facilitate several satisfying endings for the cast of characters inhabiting the not-so-sleepy little Pennsylvania burg, but also work well within the behind-the-scenes changes, like the shift from filming in North Carolina to Pittsburgh, and the fact the series’ usual season order of ten episodes had been cut to eight....

In terms of the many reboots and revivals that have been popping up throughout the entertainment industry over the past few years, one of the most interesting and unexpected is this year’s planned Baywatch reboot. Apple today launched a redesigned version of its Apple Open Source website, on which the company provides access to open source data. The new website highlights not only Apple’s open source projects, but also those of third parties. The new website is divided into two different sections, which are “Apple Projects” and “Community Projects.” Apple’s open source projects include the Swift programming language, the WebKit engine for web browsers, the FoundationDB database, ResearchKit and CareKit for health-related content, and Password Manager Resources....

Apple notified developers last month about a change in India’s local payments system that would impact apps with recurring transactions. As the company is asking developers to promote payments using the Apple ID balance, Apple is now giving a 20% bonus to Indian users who add funds to their Apple ID. As noted by developer Mustafa Yusuf on Twitter, users are being notified about a 20% bonus when adding funds to an Indian Apple ID account....

Apple today is releasing iOS 15 beta 3 and iPadOS 15 beta 3 to developers. This comes after iOS 15 beta 2 was released two weeks ago and it brought a handful of changes to the iPhone and iPad, including a new Maps icon, SharePlay, and more. iOS 15 beta 3 and iPadOS 15 beta 3 are available to developers via an over-the-air update in the Settings app. As usual, if the update does not immediately appear for download, keep checking, as it sometimes takes a few minutes to roll out to all registered developers....

Following macOS 11.5.1 arriving at the end of July for all users with important security fixes, Apple has made macOS 11.5.2 available today with bug fixes and possibly more. macOS 11.5.2 is available for all users and should be showing up in System Preferences > Software Update soon if it isn’t already. It’s not clear what the update includes yet beyond “bug fixes for your Mac.” We’ll update this post as we learn more....

Less than a week after the last beta, Apple is seeding today beta 10 of macOS Monterey to developers. As October’s event will probably be about Macs, the company is readying the launch of its next big software update to computers. macOS Monterey beta 10 is appearing now via OTA for developers and public testers with build number 21A5552a.
