An Apple supplier is warning of a significant decline in smartphone demand as we head into the holiday shopping season. Corning, the Apple supplier that makes glass for the iPhone, says that it has seen weaker-than-expected demand for smartphones. The company is now forecasting that smartphone sales will be down 12% in 2022 compared to 2021. For Q4, Corning is forecasting $3.55 billion in sales, which is lower than the analyst consensus of $3....

A long-running class-action lawsuit against Apple over its AppleCare replacement policies is finally coming to an end. The class action suit targeted Apple’s policy to provide refurbished devices as replacements through AppleCare. Final approval for the $95 million settlement was granted in April, and now eligible Apple users are being notified of their payments. In the lawsuit, customers took issue with Apple’s policy to provide device replacements that were refurbished rather than new through AppleCare....

Over the last several days, we’ve seen a barrage of new details leak on Apple’s rumored Apple Watch Pro. Fans of Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp novels were thrilled to learn earlier this year that a film adaptation of American Assassin was officially underway. The series of novels, which began in 1999 and so far runs 15 books long, follows Mitch Rapp as he fights terrorist attacks against the United States as an undercover CIA operative. American Assassin, chronologically the first book in the series but the eleventh to be published, provides an origin story of sorts for Rapp....

The latest word has American Horror Story adding Lena Dunham to its cast of lead performers in season 7. Apple is today announcing a trio of new efforts it’s undertaking to bring new protection for children to iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This includes new communications safety features in Messages, enhanced detection of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) content in iCloud, and updated knowledge information for Siri and Search. One thing Apple is emphasizing is that its new program is ambitious, but that “protecting children is an important responsibility.” With that in mind, Apple says that its efforts will “evolve and expand over time....
