Apple is rolling out a new update to the Apple Support app for iPhone and iPad. This update brings the app to version 4.5, and it includes new features for getting price estimates for common repairs, in addition to new ways that explain your device’s problem getting “relevant support options.” With today’s update, there’s a new option on the main screen of the app called: “Tell us what’s happening.” If you tap this, you can quickly type your device’s problem out “in your own words” and you’ll be shown “relevant support options....

Apple Watch Ultra is the first wearable from the company with an additional button beyond the Digital Crown and side button. All 20 MCU movies will be shown in IMAX as part of the Marvel Studios 10th Anniversary Film Festival. Marvel Studios changed the way Hollywood looks at franchises when they launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008. Over the last 10 years, they’ve released 20 films in theaters, received positive critical reception on all, and made a combined $17 billion. Like Guardians of the Galaxy before it and Doctor Strange after, Ant-Man was one of many films critics declared could become Marvel’s first flop. Not only did all three films do exceedingly well at home and abroad, none of them were close to Marvel’s weakest effort yet. Despite the rocky departure of Edgar Wright from Ant-Man, director Peyton Reed was able to deliver a dynamic, action-packed, and fun film thanks to a solid script and strong performances....

Earlier today we reported that Apple was fined $5.6 million for not complying with a new regulation in the Netherlands that forces tech companies to let dating apps offer alternative payment methods. Now another Dutch group has joined the fight against the App Store, claiming that Apple charges high commissions from developers. The Dutch App Stores Claim Foundation, chaired by journalist and entrepreneur Alexander Klopping, argues that both Apple and Google charge developers excessive fees....

Update: The computer sold for $400k, though the buyer had to pay a total of $500k with the hefty 25% buyer’s premium,. Yep, it’s time for another Apple-1 computer auction, and this one claims to be more special than most. Apple TV+ has teed up its third partnership with Bill Lawrence. Following the worldwide success of Ted Lasso, last month Apple announced that Lawrence would produce an adaptation of Bad Monkey starring Vince Vaughn. This time, fellow Ted Lasso writer Brett Goldstein (who you may recognize as Roy Kent) is also in the mix for a new 10-episode comedy series called ‘Shrinking’, set to star Jason Segel. In ‘Shrinking’, Segel will play a therapist who breaks the rules and tells his clients exactly what he thinks, and predictable mayhem ensues....

Deciding what to do with Will Smith’s latest film Emancipation hasn’t been simple for Apple. The actor’s infamous television appearance during which he slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage at The Oscars in March complicated things; now the verdict is in for how the company has chosen to handle the movie. Apple Original Films plans to release Emancipation in theaters on December 2. Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to watch the movie on streaming a week later on December 9....

A week after seeding beta 3, Apple has released macOS Monterey beta 4 to developers today. Last time around we saw a major change to Safari’s default design moving away from the unified search/tab bar. With beta 4, Apple says the exciting Universal Control feature has been enabled and Live Text comes to Intel Macs. Update 11:30 am PT: Apple has now pulled the mention of Universal Control being live in beta 4....

As of now, the Apple System Status page shows Apple TV+ as working as expected, but this could change as more users complain about the service’s outage. For example, one user said they were watching season 3 of For All Mankind when Apple TV+ just stopped working. Around 11:30 AM PT, Down Detector showed a spike of users complaining that Apple’s streaming service isn’t working as expected.
