Over the weekend, an explosive report from Amnesty International detailed targeted attacks towards target human rights activists, lawyers, and journalists using Apple’s iMessage system as a vector by which to deliver the zero-click attacks. In a new statement provided to the Washington Post, Apple defended its security practices and said it leads the industry in security innovation. Apple executive Lisa Jackson is well known by the Apple community for two reasons: announcing the end of the EarPods and power brick of the iPhone boxes and for advocating for a better world, fighting climate change, and empowering the communities that need help the most. Watch out, Poppy Parnell! Apple TV+ just debuted its first true-crime podcast called Run, Bambi, Run. The show follows the real-life story of Laurie “Bambi” Bembenek, a Milwaukee police officer who was dubiously convicted of murder before braving a daring escape as part of a years-long quest to clear her name. True-crime podcasts are a must for many listeners, and Apple is now joining the genre. The Apple TV+ Original is an eight-part series, with the first two being just released....

Aquaman’s strong box office and enthusiastic reviews offer encouragement to an embattled Warner Bros. over the future of the DC Extended Universe and the status of Justice League 2. It remains to be seen whether the studio will commit to a sequel to Justice League. On paper, it seems like a bad idea: The 2017 film was a commercial disappointment, especially at the domestic box office, and reviews were tepid; the change-over of directors, from Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon, remains a topic of contention; and hunger for the much gossiped about “Snyder Cut” of the film remains high in fandom circles....

The fictional worlds that our favorite comic book heroes live in often include items we’d love to see in real life. For example, no one has as many desirable gadgets as the Caped Crusader, from the Batmobile to the Whirly-Bat. Ford Motor Company recently filed a patent that may help to bring one of Batman’s big screen vehicles to life. The company is apparently pursuing the idea of building a motorized device into their vehicles that incorporates one of the wheels and a pack-in chassis to create a back-up form of transportation similar to Batman’s Batpod vehicle....

Hitch (as he was called by friends) also brought an array of impressive and complex characters to life in his many films. Marvel announces an open casting call for Ant-Man & the Wasp in Atlanta, Georgia ahead of the film’s June filming start date. The Marvel Cinematic Universe officially entered Phase 3 little under a year ago with the debut of Captain America: Civil War. While the third phase of Marvel Studios’ expansive superhero universe includes plenty of solo entries for new or first-time headlining heroes - like Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel - it will also feature a number of sequels to existing series....

Arrow has returned to the CW network with a renewed purpose. The series began its fifth season by going back to its basics, complete with a stripped down approach that highlights grounded action over hyper-realistic super-heroics. The nature of almost all superhero shows is to spotlight the stars that appear in front of the camera. That’s understandable when you have heroes that run at the speed of light, fly, or workout like Oliver Queen....

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has defended Avengers: Endgame’s brief use of the MCU’s first explicitly gay character. Marvel Comics always prided itself on being set in “the world outside your window,” albeit with the addition of superheroes. As a result, themes of diversity and inclusion have increasingly become a part of the Marvel Comics universe. The MCU, however, has been fairly slow to follow suit. 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming was the first MCU movie to feature a black woman in a speaking role (Zendaya as MJ), and it took Marvel 11 years to release a solo film starring a female superhero....

Back in 2010, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland made a staggering billion dollars worldwide, including a whopping $334 million in the United States. In May 2016, Alice Through the Looking Glass opened. After 14 days in domestic release, the sequel earned $56 million, a staggering 175 million dollars fewer than the first film made in its own first two weeks, per Box Office Mojo. Furthermore, Looking Glass is projected to close with around $80-$85 million, which is around $30 million less than the original made in its opening weekend....

There will be SPOILERS.] – Angie Tribeca is a half hour police procedural comedy created by Steve Carell (The Office, Foxcatcher) and his wife Nancy Carell. In an innovative programming move TBS is airing the full ten episode first season uninterrupted on network TV and on demand in one long 25 hour block. The show has already been renewed for an additional ten episode second season, which will begin airing the week of January 25th, one week after season 1 premieres....

Both Twitter and Snap have reported strong growth, and the latter has said that it was seeing higher rates of App Tracking Transparency opt-in than has been generally reported. Mac Studio represents a new category between Mac mini and Mac Pro. It features a design based on the Mac mini, but with a taller body to support the more powerful hardware and also a better cooling system. By default, Mac Studio already comes with the M1 Max chip, the same one found in the high-end models of the 2021 MacBook Pro. A more expensive option lets users customize Mac Studio with M1 Ultra – a new chip that combines two M1 Max chips working together....

After over a month of beta testing, Apple has released iOS 15.5 RC to developers and public beta users. Earlier this week, Apple announced multiple new updates for its education offering, including Apple Teacher Portfolio, remote support in Apple Classroom, a Mac Catalyst version of Apple Classroom, and new updates to the Everyone Can Create curriculum. Apple is also releasing Apple School Manager integration with Claris Connect in the coming weeks. Claris Connect first launched in beta in 2019. Claris is a subsidiary of Apple that is best known for making the FileMaker application....

Earlier this year, Apple TV+ announced the release of the new documentary film “My Mind & Me,” featuring popular actress and singer Selena Gomez. As the documentary will be available for streaming starting November 4, the company is now promoting the film’s premiere with a two-month Apple TV+ subscription for free. The offer was shared by Selena Gomez on Twitter as a “special gift” for her fans. By accessing a special URL that leads to Apple’s website, new subscribers can get two months of Apple TV+ for free....
