Marvel Studios shouldn’t kill the original Avengers during Avengers 4, even if that’s what everyone expects. The prevailing thought process when it comes to Avengers 4 is that it will be the final chapter for several of the biggest heroes to take center stage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe But, just because Marvel has the ability to kill them, doesn’t mean they actually should. Ever since the Avengers first formed in 2012’s The Avengers, they’ve been the undisputed core group of characters in the MCU....

If critics and comic book fans felt Batman V Superman was too depressing, bleak, or devoid of joy and tolerance… then the year and a half since its release must be downright unbearable. Alex Garland’s film adaption of the novel Annihilation has been accused of whitewashing two of the main characters. The early reactions for Annihilation have praised the film highly. Based on the first novel in Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach Trilogy, Annihilation tells the story of a group of female scientists who enter a strange area known as The Shimmer after a previous expedition injured one of their husbands and killed everyone else....

In fact, Moranis still has a chance at fitting into a possible Ant-Man 3. Apple in 2020 announced a new App Store Small Business Program, which allows developers to qualify for a commission rate of 15% if they earn up to $1 million. However, Apple had been rejecting developers who transferred apps from one account to another – which is fortunately no longer the case. The company has been informing developers about a change in its guidelines to remove app transfer prohibition for participation in the App Store Small Business Program....

Apple has published a patent regarding iPhone cases and docks that support near-field wireless communication systems. According to Patently Apple, this accessory would significantly alter the operation and user interface (UI) of the iPhone. For instance, when put into a sport-focused protective case, the iPhone may automatically replace its graphical interface with one that is sport-focused. Another example shows that when the iPhone is placed on a speaker dock, it may change its UI with a set of audio playback controls....

Apple on Wednesday notified developers about upcoming certificate changes for apps and push notifications, which will impact some software depending on the Xcode version used by the developer. As announced by the company on the Apple Developer website, some certificate updates will be available for the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Developer ID starting January 27, 2022. APN certificates are required to enable push notifications in apps and websites on Safari, and now these certificates will be issued from a new intermediate certificate....

Apple today notified developers about a change that will impact apps with renewable subscriptions or other recurring transactions in India. Due to a new directive from the Reserve Bank of India, some in-app transactions made with credit and debit cards may be declined by banks or card issuers. As explained by the company, this new directive requires local banks and financial institutions to require customer approval for any purchases that result in recurring transactions, such as renewable subscriptions....

A report last month described problems caused by power outages in China, and a new one today describes Apple suppliers struggling to keep production on track. We previously described three reasons for the increasingly common electricity restrictions in the country … Nikkei Asia reports that the situation is worsening. The Chinese government is responding to dramatically increasing costs for coal and natural gas, both of which are used extensively in the country for electricity generation....

After outbidding Netflix for the show in 2021, Apple TV+ is finally ordering Sugar to a new series. The genre-bending series stars Colin Farrell, who will also serve as executive producer. Alongside Farrell, X-Men’s Simon Kinberg, Invasion’s Audrey Chon, and The Guilty’s Scott Greenberg will executive produce as well. Oscar-nominee Fernando Meirelles of City of God will serve as director for the new Apple TV+ series. While the plot is unknown, Deadline reports Sugar will be a contemporary take on a Los Angeles-based private detective story....

Apple has just announced updated HomePod minis in three new color options: yellow, blue, and orange. They are priced at the same $99 and will be available next month. Apple will continue to offer the existing white and space gray color options as well. The new HomePod minis are functionally the same as last year’s but they have new color LEDs on the top. Apple currently has different colors on the white and space gray HomePods....

James Wan is developing a monster movie for Universal. A filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer, Wan rose to prominence as the co-creator of the Saw franchise. In addition to directing the first installment and co-writing the third, Wan served as a producer on all eight entries in the series. Continuing his mark on the horror genre, Wan directed the first two Conjuring and Insidious films. Branching out to the world of crowd-pleasing blockbusters, Wan helmed Furious 7 and Aquaman....

The Avengers: Endgame writers reveal Iron Man almost dropped the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first F-bomb in his final words to Thanos. Earlier this year, Marvel Studios released Avengers: Endgame, the epic conclusion to the MCU thus far. The movie wrapped up what Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige termed the Infinity Saga, the story the MCU has been telling since 2008’s Iron Man officially launched the franchise. Endgame united all six of the original Avengers, and some of their friends, in a time travel mission....
