After the DC Extended Universe got off to a divisive start with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice polarizing both critics and fans, DC’s biggest heroes have been in a state of uncertainty, and a Batman and Superman team-up might be the thing to stabilize it again. In an effort to course correct for the complaints about Batman v Superman’s tone, Suicide Squad saw massive reshoots, ultimately making the movie a mess, with Justice League taking even more drastic actions, removing Zack Snyder as director, cutting continuity to his past films, and permanently altering the future trajectory of the DCEU....

In a surprise announcement, American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy confirms that season 8 will be a crossover between Murder House and Coven. While American Horror Story has always been a show that thrived on chaos and confusion - usually in a good way - that sense of craziness extended out into the real world beginning with 2016’s season 6, eventually subtitled Roanoke. Murphy and company spent months teasing fans about the season’s subject matter, including dropping multiple fake promos intended to give a false idea of what was to come....

Nintendo won over the hearts of countless online E3 2019 viewers with an adorably wholesome gameplay trailer for Animal Crossing: New Horizons before announcing the game’s delay from later this year to next spring, and Nintendo seems to have delayed the game to maintain developers’ work-life balance. Overworking employees in the name of shipping a product on-time is a reprehensible but widespread practice referred to within the industry as “crunch,” and Nintendo is taking a firm stance against it with its new Animal Crossing project....

The announcement of an Apple buy now, pay later feature, Apple Pay Later, has drawn the attention of the US consumer finance regulator, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). CFPB director Rohit Chopra said that Apple Pay Later raised “a host of issues,” with antitrust concerns one of those … Background Apple’s buy now, pay later (BNPL) feature was announced at WWDC. Apple Pay Later will launch as part of iOS 16, allowing US Apple Pay users to make four equal payments over six weeks at no extra cost....

In a new interview, Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations, and Andreas Wendker, Apple’s vice president of tools and frameworks engineering, talk about the new tools developers have available after WWDC21. With macOS Monterey beta 4, Apple said in the release notes that Universal Control had been enabled before the mention was quickly pulled. macOS Monterey beta 5 is now available for developers and hopefully, the anticipated new feature is live for the first time. An Apple patent battle with healthtech company AliveCor has been won by the Cupertino company, likely saving the Apple Watch from a potential import ban next week. Following the release of watchOS 8.4 last week, Apple today is rolling out watchOS 8.4.1 to some Apple Watch users. That’s because the update seems to be exclusive to Apple Watch Series 4 and later. It’s unclear what exactly changes with the update, but the release notes say that watchOS 8.4.1 comes to fix bugs that only affect Apple Watch Series 4 and later. Although Apple Watch Series 3 also supports watchOS 8, it seems that today’s update has not been made available for it....

Before WWDC 2022, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported based on his own sources that Apple had been working on a new Low Power Mode for watchOS 9. However, watchOS 9 was announced with no new features in this aspect. Now Gurman is back with a related report, but this time he claims that Low Power Mode will be exclusive to the new Apple Watch Series 8. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman revealed that he still expects a new Low Power Mode coming later this year....

DC’s Extended Universe is perhaps one of the most divisive movie franchises of the modern-day, with audiences completely split as to whether the three big films that have been released as part of the DCEU so far have been any good at all. Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad are those movies in question, but the legions of fans who enjoy them are big enough to ensure that a whole slew of new releases will drop in the coming months and years....

When it came time to team up characters for Avengers: Infinity War, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely sought a balance between delight and terror. What made Marvel Studios’ concept of a shared universe so enticing was exactly what’s made it so appealing for decades in the comics: the ability to pair together characters who stood as titans on their own. The Avengers and its critical and financial success proved that even non-comic fans were ready for such an idea, and the new trailer for Avengers: Infinity War offers a tease of how surreal it will be when the Guardians come to Earth....

With the limited release of The Hateful Eight next week, the Weinstein Company and director Quentin Tarantino had to retrofit about 100 movie theaters across the United States for the “Roadshow” release, which features a longer, 70mm version of the film, an overture, and a 12-minute intermission in the middle. Now, there’s at least one theater that can project 70mm filmstock in each of the top 44 markets. It was a big undertaking to convince theater chains to adapt to 70mm film stock after fully embracing digital projection in recent years....
