Global Positioning System, or GPS, is one of the most popular satellite-based navigation systems in the world. However, there are other technologies that provide precise location by satellite – and now India is trying to push NavIC, its own navigation system. However, Apple and other companies seem to be worried about this. As reported by Reuters (via Tecnoblog), the Indian government wants to reduce its dependence on foreign systems like GPS (which is owned by the US) by creating its own technologies....

ACSI published the new report today based on almost 10,000 respondents from July 2021 to June 2022. The personal computer category includes desktops, laptops, and tablets. “Satisfaction with desktop computers rebounds, up 3% to an ACSI score of 80. This improvement puts desktops in sole possession of first place. Laptops and tablets both score 79, with the former inching up 1% and the latter surging 4%.” Overall, Apple’s Mac and iPad experience scored 82, two points above the desktop average and three points above the personal computer average of 79 (which includes laptops and tablets)....

If all the rumors are correct, 2022 is the year when Apple will finally introduce its own mixed reality headset. As we learn more about the product, technology analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple’s headset will be released in late 2022 with limited supplies. Kuo had already said in a previous note that Apple already anticipates delays in the production of its mixed reality headset as the device is expected to have much more advanced hardware and design than rival products....

After cutting its California self-driving test fleet to 54 in May, Apple has been expanding the number of drivers as months go by. Now, the company has over 114 drivers. As spotted by macReports, Apple has been consistently expanding its California self-driving test fleet as it reached up to 154 drivers in October of 2020. Though, the number of self-driving vehicles available is the same since August: 69. According to the California DMV, Apple has yet to apply for a driverless permit, as there are several manufacturers who have driverless permits for their fleets....

Apple has launched a new iCloud interface on the web for all users. This new design is far more modern and customizable, with a tile-based interface that shows information from Apple’s various iCloud apps and services. This includes Mail, Reminders, Photos, and more. This new iCloud design launched today to all users. The design was previously tested on the beta version of the iCloud website, which Apple uses new features and changes before they are rolled out to the broader iCloud user base....

Update: A few days after letting users add their card to the Wallet, Banco de Chile removed them, as Apple is not promoting Apple Pay in the country just yet. Apple Pay is expanding to a second South American country. After Brazil, Chile is now receiving support for Apple’s own payment system. Apple Pay’s expansion to Chile had previously been teased. In August, one of the Chilean banks, BICE, said it was readying the launch of the service....

Apple supplier Quanta Computer, located in Shanghai, is facing backlash from mostly low-wage workers demanding more freedom from these lockdown restrictions.
