Now, the Apple Maps’ own rating system is available to users in Germany. Additionally, the tech giant has improved the app’s display, and released more detailed street views. Apple’s rating system is now integrated in Maps to view details of restaurants, museums, and more. With this update, users can give a thumbs up or thumbs down rating and upload their own photos from their experience at certain locations....

Apple has been under pressure to let developers redirect users to third-party payment systems instead of their own, but so far the company has been appealing this decision. Now the Dutch regulator is requiring Apple to allow dating apps to use alternative payment methods in the Netherlands. As noted by iCulture, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) on Friday ordered Apple to change its “unreasonable conditions in its App Store” regarding the store’s payment system....

Following an update for AirPods Pro 2 earlier this week, Apple is now rolling out new firmware versions for the rest of its AirPods lineup as well. This includes AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Max, and the original AirPods Pro. New AirPods firmware updates The new firmware version for these new AirPods is version 5B58. The update is available to all of the aforementioned AirPods models starting today. This is up from the previous firmware version of 4E71, and it’s the same version that was released to AirPods Pro 2 earlier this week....

As reported by Deadline, Apple has won out in the bidding war for Sundance favorite ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth’. Apple Original Films division has nabbed worldwide rights to stream the film on Apple TV+ later this year, in a deal said to be worth around $15m. By the numbers, that’s the biggest Sundance 2022 deal but it doesn’t beat out Apple’s record-setting acquisition of CODA (which has a lot of buzz heading into awards season) at last year’s festival....

At the beginning of the year, Apple expanded its Fitness+ capabilities with a “Time to Walk” workout for the Apple Watch. Apple Store pay is to be significantly increased as part of the company’s fight against unionization of retail store employees. Starting pay is being increased by almost 50% over 2018 levels. The move follows an aggressive anti-union video by retail chief Deirdre O’Brien. A sequel to Alien: Covenant is reportedly being written, with Ridley Scott attached to direct. Another comic book crossover between Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is on the way. DC Entertainment, IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon have opted to team up these characters for a second time, following the success of 2015’s crossover series Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The six-issue sequel series will begin this December, when two issues will be released. Gotham’s Dark Knight and New York’s pizza-loving reptile/human hybrid heroes are no strangers to wacky crossovers....
