The 2015 Canadian Videogame Awards were held Sunday evening at Mattamy Centre in the heart of downtown Toronto where we were in attendance to celebrate Canada’s contributions to the entertainment industry. Winners were announced from a list of more than 100 finalists, representing work developed in Canada and internationally. A body of industry experts from across the country voted on the winners in each category. Members of the general public voted online to determine the winners in the Fans’ Choice: Best Canadian-Made Game and Fans’ Choice: Best International Game categories....

And far from just a respite, she may be the key to defeating the Mad Titan. Edgar Wright, whether by his own choice or not, spends a long time developing his films. He was attached to Marvel’s Ant-Man for the better of a decade before parting ways with the studio before it began production. With Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, he was contracted to develop that comic into a film six years before it opened in theaters. Following a big move to bring the iPhone 12 to almost 20,000 Delta flight attendants back in April, the airline is again partnering with Apple and AT&T to upgrade all of its pilot’s electronic flight bags with the new M1-powered iPad Pro and 5G. The major iPhone 12 upgrade for Delta was part of its push to “lead the commercial airlines industry into the 5G era.” That effort continues with the airline upgrading “all pilot electronic flight bags (EFB) —one of a pilot’s tools for use in pre-flight management tasks and processes — to the new iPad Pro, powered by Apple’s M1 chip and 5G....

One of the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 features announced at WWDC 2021 was support for discovering in-app events directly through the App Store. Apple has announced today that in-app events will officially go live in the App Store on October 27, and developers can schedule them now via App Store Connect. In a post on the Apple Developer website, Apple said developers can now create in-app events in App Store Connect and schedule them to appear on the App Store....

Apple is continuing to enhance the music recognition service Shazam, which it originally acquired back in 2018. In a new update today, Shazam for iOS should now be able to recognize even more songs… According to the release notes for today’s update to Shazam, the app’s listening recognition technology has been updated to listen “harder” and “longer” to recognize what’s playing. “Shazam now finds more songs by trying harder, for longer....

Apple published a new support page about how exposure to vibrations, like those generated by high-powered motorcycle engines, might impact iPhone cameras. Apple explains that some features like optical image stabilization (OIS) and closed-loop autofocus can be affected for “long-term direct exposure to high-amplitude vibration within certain frequency ranges.” As spotted by MacRumors, the support page says that “exposing your iPhone to high amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges, specifically, those generated by high-power motorcycle engines can degrade the performance of the camera system....

Avengers star Don Cheadle will be serving as executive producer on 10-episode comedy series Black Monday. The series will air on Showtime and be co-produced by Sony Pictures Television, the network announced Thursday. Cheadle will also star in the series alongside Andrew Rannells and Regina Hall. Black Monday, which was created by the duo of David Caspe (Happy Endings) and Jordan Cahan, will take place in the 1980s and focus on the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street....

Avengers: Infinity War is truly the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means there’s a lot to unpack because of that. Bringing together virtually every major character in the shared universe (including their individual story arcs) for an ultimate showdown with the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his loyal Black Order makes for a compelling action film, but it also opens itself up to a breadth of new questions....

Though the Russo Brothers were tasked with constructing Avengers: Infinity War, nearly every active creative in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was involved. There’s been a lot of talk amongst fans in the buildup to this year’s big blockbuster about how well the film will be able to balance dozens of characters and storylines, despite Kevin Feige saying every MCU plot will feed into Avengers 3. But outside of coordinating so many arcs and actors, the massive movie also needed to pull in a number of directors....

The first trailer for Avengers: Endgame has confirmed Hawkeye’s presence in the movie, but features the Battling Bowman in an outfit that may hint at a terrible fate for his family. The Ronin costume also suggests a new identity for Clint Barton, mimicking the comics that immediately followed the original Civil War event. Many Avengers fans were upset that Clint “Hawkeye” Barton was completely absent from Infinity War. A throwaway bit of dialogue in the film explained his absence, revealing that both Clint Barton and Scott “Ant-Man” Lang had accepted plea-bargains that allowed them to serve their sentences under house-arrest, after escaping from prison at the end of Captain America: Civil War....

Avengers 4 is the perfect chance for Marvel to bring a much-loved character back from the dead - it’s time for Quicksilver to fight alongside the Avengers once again. Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s version of the super-speedster was introduced, and quickly killed off, in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. In contrast, Fox has been developing their own version of Quicksilver - played by Evan Peters - since 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, and the Fox films have demonstrated rather well just how powerful a super-speedster can be....

Former The Bachelor star Ben Higgins responds to the news that his ex-fiancé Lauren Bushnell is now engaged. Country singer and songwriter, Chris Lane, asked Lauren Bushnell to be his wife this week, and ex-fiancé Higgins speaks openly about what he thinks of the engagement. Higgins and Bushnell got engaged in 2016 during his season of The Bachelor, but their relationship ended in May the following year. Bushnell started to date Lane, who she’d been friends with for years, in the fall of 2018 and the two made their debut as a couple at the CMI Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee that November....

The awards, which will be celebrating their 70th anniversary this Sunday, are the top prize of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, founded by some of Britain’s top industry talents including David Lean and Charles Laughton, which works year round to support and develop film as an art form through public outreach, education and funding....

Despite its controversial ending, the 2004 version of Battlestar Galactica remains one of the best sci-fi shows ever written. Its fantastic ensemble cast, complex politics, and surprising plot twists combined beautifully with Bear McCreary’s breathtaking soundtrack to create one of the best shows ever, period. With 76 episodes and several TV movies created over its run, the series is rich with content. The storytelling built itself to a fever pitch by the end of every season, and the writing rarely missed the mark....

Harry Potter had some of the most insane world-building that any franchise ever had, and with it came an enchanting magic system. It’s hard to pinpoint how J.K. Rowling did it exactly. The magic is so complex and intense but it was somehow easy to follow, with the rules introduced as we went along with the series. But there seemed to be some strange limits to the magic, to be honest....

When we spoke to Andy Serkis at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, he said that he’d “love to” return to the Planet of the Apes franchise one day. Serkis most recently starred in War for the Planet of the Apes - and given how successful the other Apes prequels have been, that shouldn’t really be a surprise. Serkis has previously discussed how much depth went into making Caesar as his own character and not just a CGI visual effect....
