Apple today has launched a new service program for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users who are facing issues with their device’s speakers. Apple says that the affected devices “may experience sound issues due to a component that might fail on the receiver module.” This marks the first service program for the iPhone 12 lineup. According to Apple, this issue affects “a very small percentage” of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021....

Apple today premiered Luck, its first feature film released as part of an exclusive deal with Skydance Animation. The multi-year deal will see Skydance produce 3D animated movies and TV shows exclusively for Apple TV+. Skydance is headed up by long-time Pixar veteran John Lasseter (who left the company a few years ago following incidents of professional misconduct), and has brought many high-profile Pixar producers along for the ride, as they look to recreate the Pixar formulae independent of Disney....

Apple typically sets Friday as its release date for Apple TV+ content. When Arrested Development returns for season 5, the show’s plot will revolve around a murder-mystery concerning Liza Minnelli’s Lucille 2, who is presumed dead after disappearing during season 4. Star Jason Bateman also revealed that series creator Mitchell Hurwitz has mapped out a three-act story for the show that would be wrapped up in a sixth season, should the series continue that long. The Lucille 2 murder-mystery plot was set up in season 4 when the character died after apparently being pushed down the Bluth Family stair-car during Cinco de Quatro, with Buster Bluth being arrested for the crime....

The first trailer has already premiered for Assassin’s Creed, giving fans their first look at the big screen adaptation of the popular video game series. And all the staples of the gameplay were there: numerous rooftops, acrobatic fights, extreme parkour, and even a death defying leap of faith. What the trailer also featured was a good primer on how Assassin’s Creed is set concurrently in the present and the past, introducing the Animus and its ability to allow descendants to live out the memories of their ancestors in real time....

Based on the infamous graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland of 1988, the all new DC Universe Original Movie Batman: The Killing Joke is set to star returning voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill in the roles of the Dark Knight and the Joker. Sporting narrative material that has been animated based on the original drawings first inked by Bolland, the animated feature has already received an R-rating, and the official trailer (see above) hints at a motion picture event largely in keeping with the original comic book’s unsettling nature and tone....

Developers at DICE have mysteriously removed Emperor Sheev Palpatine from the roster of EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II and the game’s fans aren’t sure when or if he’ll be back. As one of the ultimate villains of George Lucas’ Star Wars and the expanded universe since he first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, Palpatine has also proved to be a powerful character to have on side in Battlefront II....

Alex Kurtzman wants his upcoming Star Trek slate to appeal more to children. The Star Trek franchise wasn’t in great shape prior to J.J. Abrams 2009 movie reboot. Star Trek: Nemesis proved to be a lame finale to the journey of The Next Generation crew, and TV series Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005. Despite the success of the Abrams’ movies and renewed interest in the franchise, it still took a while for a new TV series to arrive, but one eventually came in the form of CBS All Access show Star Trek: Discovery....

Warner Bros. Television is developing a reboot of ALF, the ’80s sitcom which followed the adventures of a cat-eating alien living with a middle-class American family. Airing from 1986-1990, ALF, for some people, epitomized the trashiness of prime time television of the era. Nevertheless, the show became a huge hit and in 1988 even cracked the top 10 in the Nielsen ratings. ALF was popular enough to spawn numerous spinoff projects, including an animated series, a Marvel comic, and a talk show that aired in the early 2000s on TV Land....
