The company has won multiple patents today, relating to the use of gloves to detect skin-to-skin contact in AR/VR. Patently Apple stated that the VR Gloves could move a cursor, scroll, open a document, make a selection, etc. These actions could require skin-to-skin contact when the Apple Glasses are in use. Additionally, the headset’s camera or a radio frequency-based system may track fingers....

An Indianapolis man named Nolan Abell credits his newly purchased Apple Watch Series 8 with calling for help after a dangerous car crash. Nolan says he hit a pole while driving at a high speed just one week after buying the watch. While fighting to stay conscious, Nolan felt the haptic feedback of the Apple Watch and heard a voice asking if he was there....

It has been a banner year for FX. The cable network took home a basic cable record of 18 Emmy Awards recently thanks to big wins by Louie Anderson of Baskets and the limited series The People v. O.J. Fox is hosting a San Diego Comic-Con 2018 panel for Alita: Battle Angel, but with a twist: attendees have to participate in a scavenger hunt to win tickets to the event. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has issued a Binding Operational Directive, requiring federal agencies to apply 24 Apple security patches. The deadline for some of these is November 17, less than two weeks from now. The directive is mandatory for federal agencies, and is recommended to all organizations. The Record notes that Apple is one of a number of companies whose patches must be applied. The directive says that “it is essential to aggressively remediate known exploited vulnerabilities....

Apple is continuing its popular “Everyday Experiments” video series this weekend to promote the iPhone 13’s camera features. The latest installment in this series is entitled “Hollywood at Home” and it features several different scenes including RC cars, food, and pets. The film clips shown in this video were shot on iPhone 13 by professional filmmakers, with Apple saying the video was “commissioned by Apple.” The goal of the video is to showcase that you can “create beautiful and cinematic shots just like the movies using everyday objects with iPhone 13....
