With an update coming this fall, Apple Fitness+ will no longer require an Apple Watch. Fitness+ will be available to all iPhone users for the first time. With iOS 16, the Fitness app is now available to all iPhone users. And with an update to iOS 16 — possibly iOS 16.1 — the Fitness+ tab will also be unlocked for all. When Fitness+ debuted in the fall of 2020, Apple stressed it was designed around the Apple Watch experience....

Apple acquired the popular hyperlocal weather app Dark Sky back in March of 2020, and the app is currently slated to be shut down at the end of 2022. Nonetheless, the app continues to receive updates with bug fixes, performance improvements, and other tweaks despite the looming shutdown. Apple today has rolled out version 6.8.7 of Dark Sky for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. This is the app’s second update in 2021, and the fourth since Apple’s acquisition was announced....

A new poster has been released highlighting Rachel Skarsten as Alice, the primary villain of the upcoming Batwoman TV series. The Ruby Rose-starring series will debut on October 6 on the CW, and follow the efforts of its titular hero Kate Kane as she tries to carry on the legacy of her cousin Batman after his departure from Gotham City, and keep the crime-ridden metropolis safe from the criminals and maniacs who would threaten it....

Social media accounts for Alien are teasing a major expansion of the series is happening in 2019. The xenomorph at the heart of the Alien series has been terrifying audiences since 1979, and has appeared in just about every medium imaginable; movies, video games, comic books, novels and even Funko Pop toys. Fans can’t seem to get enough of H.R. Giger’s nightmarish creation, but the movie franchise is currently in flux....

Alien director Ridley Scott has been talking about how tough it is to replace the Xenomorph in the franchise - and he may be indicating that’s no longer the plan. Various rumors on Apple releasing an MacBook/iPad hybrid have been circling for a while. Today, the US Patent and Trademark Office has granted another new patent for Apple that raises new suspicion. According to Patently Apple, this new patent involves a hinged iPad keyboard accessory with an iPad using a macOS-like interface. This keyboard would provide more flexibility for users with multiple installation modes. It also illustrates a MacBook-like device where an iPad with macOS-like UI attaches magnetically to this keyboard....

Almost a decade since Apple started rolling out Apple Pay support, it’s still being expanded to more countries. Today, Bahrain, a country in the Persian Gulf, is adding support for Apple’s own payment system. The banks NBB, ila, and BBK have each announced that they are supporting Apple Pay. NBB, for example, says its customers can enjoy “faster, easier, and safer payments” with its Mastercard and Visa cards supported. ila Bank invites its users to “enjoy all benefits” of their card while using Apple Pay....

Apple’s streaming service, Apple TV+, today released the official trailer for its next movie premiere, The Sky is Everywhere, an adaptation of the YA novel by Jandy Nelson.
