Apple’s Google search payment – the billions of dollars Google pays to be the default search engine on Apple devices – is likely safe for years to come, say analysts. The controversial payment is thought to contribute as much as 3% of Apple’s pretax profit, but is potentially under threat from antitrust action. The Jon Favreau-directed The Jungle Book has now opened to widespread positive reviews and a domestic box office opening weekend gross that exceeded $100 million - something that is good news for Walt Disney Studios, but not per se welcome news for Warner Bros. WB, as it were, also has a digital effects-heavy film adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book literature in the pipeline, with motion-capture expert Andy Serkis directing and Callie Kloves (the daughter-turned screenwriter of Harry Potter movie writer Steve Kloves) handling scripting responsibilities....
Just how many times have Marvel movies and TV shows referenced DC’s superheroes? Over in the comics, there’s a rich tradition of each publisher subtly referencing the other. These are partly just Easter eggs for the readers, but they’re also because writers and artists tend to jump between the two companies. One of the more amusing recent examples was in February this year, when artist Mike Deodato, Jr. subtly referenced DC’s Captain Marvel as though he’s part of the Marvel multiverse....

Announced on Tuesday, the Apple Studio Display uses almost the same panel as what LG has shipped inside the UltraFine 5K for several years. It’s also closely comparable to what Apple sold inside the 27-inch iMac, another product that was also discontinued at the Apple Store this week. One minor improvement over the panel is higher 600nits brightness for the Studio Display, compared to the UltraFine’s 500 nits.
