One of the most important campaigns for the iPhone is “Shot on iPhone.” It started in 2014, and in a new interview with Adweek, Apple VP Tor Myhren explained how the company created it. Not only did Apple create the official way to share photos taken with an iPhone, but the executive also explained why outdoor placement is so important for the company: Envisioned from the start for outdoor placement, “Shot on iPhone” was “a ridiculously simple idea,” Myhren said, “based on behavior we were seeing with people posting their photos and hashtagging them in different ways....

Apple is widely expected to land rights to stream NFL Sunday Ticket on the Apple TV platform, but with an estimated price tag in the $2.5 billion range, it is taking a while for the deal to be finalized. In the meantime, likely as an offshoot of those negotiations, Apple Music has been announced as the new sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show, in a multi-year deal starting with Super Bowl 57 on February 12, 2023....

Apple has officially started selling its Magic Keyboard with Touch ID as a standalone purchase. Two options are available with the newest keyboards that are compatible with M1 Macs. Meanwhile, there’s a refreshed version without Touch ID as well. Spotted by Rene Ritchie, the new Magic Keyboard with built-in biometrics is available with both the numpad and without. The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is priced at $149 and the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad is going for $179....

Apple has made a new update available today for Mac users running Big Sur. Instead of macOS 11.6.1 or similar, the release is called “Device Support Update” and brings fixes to make sure updating and restoring iPhone and iPad with a Mac is working correctly. Earlier this month, we saw Apple release macOS 11.6 with important security fixes for two flaws that may have been actively exploited in the wild....

Apple Watch Series 7 was announced at Apple’s September special event along with the iPhone 13 lineup and the new iPad models. However, unlike its siblings, Apple Watch Series 7 is not available to customers – and there’s no word from Apple on when it will be. According to Jon Prosser, the next-generation Apple Watch is expected to hit stores in October. Prosser shared a report on Tuesday based on “multiple sources familiar with the release” who told him that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be released to customers in mid-October....

Arrested Development star Jason Bateman announces he has officially signed on for season 5. The show became a cult comedy classic after its initial run on Fox, so fans were thrilled when Netflix worked its revival magic in 2013, bringing it back for a fourth season. As it looks to significantly reduce its reliance on China, the company is reportedly exploring moving some iPad production to India. CNBC says Apple is having “ongoing discussions with officials” about producing the iPad in India, though “no concrete plans have been made.” Apple already assembles certain models of the iPhone in India, including the latest iPhone 14 and multiple older models that it still sells. Currently, the iPad is made primarily in China, with some production also happening in Vietnam, according to a Nikkei Asia report earlier this year....

Apple is investigating the possibility of integrating its Touch ID biometrics technology into an Apple TV remote or home automation remote, according to a new patent. As first reported by Patently Apple, Apple was granted a utility patent this week, describing a “remote covering television, home devices, doors, appliances and more” with biometric authentication. Apple doesn’t offer truly individualized customization of its products or interfaces to its users, and if anyone wants to customize the look of their Apple products – specifically their home screens – they’re in for A Time.
