Five years on, and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy remains the definitive benchmark for modern superhero movies, with The Dark Knight by far the most successful of the bunch. The second in Nolan’s series, The Dark Knight broke new ground in the comic book genre, taking home two Academy Awards at the 2009 ceremony, and transcending genre to stand as one of the greatest films of all time. That is, at least, according to IMDb, which ranks The Dark Knight as the fourth best movie ever made, a point ahead of classics such as 12 Angry Men, Pulp Fiction, and Schindler’s List....

Upon its release in 1991, Beauty and the Beast fast became a classic and beloved movie for many, not least because of the music and songs featured in the movie. With a score written by Alan Menken, and lyrics penned by the late Howard Ashman, Beauty and the Beast came to life in a magical animated musical that totally captured the Disney spirit. Ashman and Menken had also worked together on Little Shop of Horrors and Disney’s The Little Mermaid, among other projects, but Ashman sadly died of AIDS eight months before Beauty and the Beast was released....

Fans of the long-running Alien series have a lot to look forward to in the coming years. Sir Ridley Scott will be present behind the camera for the Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant. He has also disclosed the exciting news that Covenant will actually be part of a trilogy which ties in directly the first Alien and explains the origins of the terrifying xenomorphs. Following his announcements, producers set a production start date for Alien: Covenant in April, with a Fall 2017 release date set....

One criticism that regularly gets laid against the Marvel movies is their generally unexciting villains, with paper-thin schemes and basic mirroring of the hero. With that in mind, one of the most-cited offenders is Ant-Man. While it was certainly cool to have a shrinking foe, Yellowjacket was a rushed presence, with House Of Cards’ Corey Stoll given very little to do beyond snarl as Darren Cross. And you’ve probably completely forgotten that Martin Donovan turned up as Hydra operative Mitchell Carson....

The Apollo program’s mission and eventual success in landing humans on the moon will forever be a story worth revisiting. It’s also one that has received the feature documentary treatment twice in 2019 alone, with the IMAX Apollo 11 and Nat Geo’s Apollo: Missions to the Moon. The latter may not have the advantage of a gigantic screen with which to take in all the spectacle and glory of NASA’s efforts and Neil Armstrong’s momentous first steps onto the lunar surface, but it does have the benefit of being a comprehensive account of the Apollo program, from its determined, seemingly impossible beginnings to its eventual end with the Apollo 17 mission, in 1972....

South Korea has stated that it is still not satisfied with Apple’s App Store plans to comply with a new antitrust law requiring developers to be able to choose third-party payment platforms. The CW is very quickly becoming television’s home for comic book television. In addition to their DC Comics slate (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and now Supergirl), the CW also airs iZombie, based on the Vertigo series of the same name, and has just announced they’re picking up Riverdale, a high school drama based on characters from Archie Comics. After being rejected by Fox, the Riverdale pilot quickly became a favorite over at the CW, where the Greg Berlanti-produced show has now been given a full season order....

With season 6 of Arrow airing this fall, the minds behind the series have already begun mapping out a seventh season of the hit show. When Arrow first reimagined DC’s Emerald Archer for the post-Dark Knight world, few could have predicted it would have such staying power. Stan has been a part of the MCU since almost the beginning, first appearing as Steve Roger’s friend Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger and returning in both Captain America sequels. In fact, he’s been the catalyst for many of Cap’s biggest adventures, especially as the Winter Soldier. Meanwhile, Stan has gotten to play one of the most interesting and complex arcs in Marvel’s movies, which he’s said that he enjoys greatly....

As Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice draws ever closer to finally hitting movie screens worldwide, much of the discussion surrounding the film has centered on questions about its box-office prospects, whether or not Hollywood can support two separate superhero “cinematic universes” and the controversy of its dark reimagining of the DC superheroes. So it’s easy to forget that it was less than a year ago that much of the most heated back and forth among fans concerned Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman costume, with many at the time opining that it diverged too drastically from the iconic uniform of the comics while (less wholesomely) others voiced disappointment with Gadot’s figure....

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is being set up as one of the most intense superhero epics ever filmed, promising to place two of the most beloved superheroes of all time into a grim scenario that will force them into conflict. Inspired in part by famously edgy comic book storylines like The Dark Knight Returns and The Death of Superman, the film’s hard hitting, action-heavy trailers have led some to question whether the film will be too dark for younger fans more accustomed to seeing the Man of Steel and Caped Crusader as fun-loving best friends, or the many older fans who already objected to the over-the-top destruction and controversial finale of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel....

We are inching closer to the highly anticipated release of Disney’s latest live-action adaptation of an animated classic, Beauty and the Beast, with less than two months until Emma Watson takes to the big screen as Belle. Marketing for the fairytale is in full swing, with the final trailer for the film is due to be released on Monday, stars Josh Gad and Luke Evans hosting an episode of The Bachelor, and plenty of posters (including the latest character posters) being released almost every week....

One of the things we learned during David Rubenstein’s interview of Tim Cook, posted in full yesterday, was that all employees at Apple Park are getting standing desks. The desks allow employees to switch between sitting and standing. As Business Insider notes, Cook has previously described sitting as ‘the new cancer.’ He made the comment back in 2015 when talking about the stand reminders on the Apple Watch. No details have yet been shared on which desks have been chosen, but we have seen them in interior photos of the campus....

American Horror Story is entering the slasher genre with season 9, 1984, so which iconic Scream Queen should make a cameo? Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology series is entering its ninth year this fall, with the 1984 slasher theme confirmed by the series creator back in April. Murphy likes to play coy ahead of upcoming American Horror Story installments, especially when it comes to the season’s specific theme. In the past, he’s even kept all details surrounding a season under wraps until the first episode aired....

A new Transformers animated movie is in development, which will explore the history of Cybertron. Cybertron is the home planet of the Transformers that has made appearances in several Transformers movies and TV shows over the years, most recently in the opening scene of the film Bumblebee. While the live-action Transformers movies make the headlines today, the franchise originally started as a toy line from Hasbro and Japanese toy company Takara Tomy in 1984....

Warning: SPOILERS for Ant-Man & The Wasp The long-awaited sequel has finally arrived, with Ant-Man & The Wasp giving equal billing to both of Marvel’s smallest heroes. They may be smaller than the other heavyweights in the MCU, but they’re just as entertaining – and the same goes for the Easter Eggs, inside jokes, and comic book references. As a far more light-hearted and comedic adventure than, say, Avengers: Infinity War, the filmmakers have even more chances to slide in winks to the audience, throwbacks to the 1960s origins of the superhero, and the kind of cameos MCU fans have come to expect....
