As part of the tvOS 15.2 release yesterday, Apple announced it was adding new Apple TV screensavers featuring aerial flythroughs of Iceland and Scotland. With this update, the screensaver rotation has added three videos of Scotland and six of Iceland, for a total of nine new additions. As always, the Apple TV box only downloads new screensavers periodically so you might not see them pop on your TV right away....

Earlier this month, Apple had employees return to work at the corporate office in a hybrid format. The process has been gradual. They’re currently in the office one day per week, but according to company policy, by May 23 employees will need to be in office at least three days per week. However, some employees have not warmed up to the idea of returning to the office. Organizing under a new group called “Apple Together,” these individuals are advocating for employees’ well-being and rights....

As rumors suggest that Apple’s long-rumored mixed reality headset will be announced sometime in 2022, we’ve been hearing several rumors about it recently. Now Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is back with more details about the product, this time claiming that the device will feature advanced hand gesture detection. More specifically, the new headset will have four sets of 3D sensors, while iPhone has only one. This should allow the device to capture gestures and detect objects more accurately than the current TrueDepth camera, which is also capable of detecting motion – as seen in features like Animoji....

Disney is developing a live-action Beauty and the Beast prequel about Gaston and LeFou for Disney+. In the four (or so) months since the streaming service launched in the U.S. last November, Disney+ has already been criticized for failing to deliver on the high expectations ahead of its debut. The problem is the streamer’s original content or, rather, the lack thereof; save for The Mandalorian, Disney+ has yet to produce a bonafide success to rival those on Netflix and Hulu....

As spotted by Consomac, Apple has registered three new Macs in the Eurasian regulatory database. The new model numbers are A2615, A2686, and A2681. One of these models is described as a laptop. A couple of weeks ago, we also saw the Eurasian database register iPhone and iPad models, likely signalling the forthcoming unveiling of a new iPhone SE generation with 5G support, and a spec-bumped iPad Air. Bloomberg recently said that Apple is planning its first (virtual) media event of the year to take place on March 8, hinting that ‘a new Mac’ may be ready to show off there....

The National Labor Relations Board has certified the union election for Apple Store employees in Maryland. This certification comes 10 days after the Towson store became the first Apple retail location in the United States to vote to unionize. The Coalition of Organized Retail Employees (CORE) has voted to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). However, the group will now be IAM-CORE and allows Apple managers to negotiate a first contract....

Starz has officially canceled Ash vs. Evil Dead, just as the series was gearing up for the season 3 finale. There has been growing concern over the future of the series since the start of the new season, and it seems rumors of the show’s demise have proven to be true. That puts a lot of pressure on the upcoming finale to not only bring the current storyline of Ash (Bruce Campbell) and his heretofore unknown daughter Brandy (Arielle Carver-O’Neill) to a close, but it will also have to satisfy fans of the show, and the films it was spun off from, with what will serve as the conclusion to the series as well....
